NEW YORK
For a tourist New York symbolize United States. It is a city that never sleeps and always waiting for new people to bask in the glory. A busy city with busy people, busy streets, and high buildings towering over is a magnificent sight. The city has lot to offer. City has a great cultural diversity, great food, and a lot more. A visit to New York would be incomplete if we do not sneak a peek into the places for which the city is famous.
NYC skyline- NYC skyline is something that holds your nerves still. It is awe inspiring scenery. The iconic skyscrapers, bridges, waterways, islands and monuments always create a breathtaking panorama. While you can feel the immensity of the surroundings from anywhere in the City, the grandeur of the cityscape is best viewed from above. Take an elevator ride up 1,050 feet to the 86th-floor observation deck of the Empire State Building; New York City’s tallest structure, this soaring art deco masterpiece offers a completely unobstructed, 360-degree view of the city below. For a spectacular vista that includes the Empire State Building itself, head up to the Top of the Rock, located on the 67th, 69th and 70th floors of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Both the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock are open late, so don’t miss the chance to see the City lights shimmer after dark.
Times square- if you are done with the skyline makes your way to the ground to the Times Square. With massive digital board shimmering a midnight will seem like an afternoon. Then there are star studded broadways Off-Broadway shows. Again there are people peddling art and jewelry on the street; and, of course, the Naked Cowboy—who plays guitar in his tighty-whities—the expansive stretch of Midtown is a feast for all five senses. Visitors can shop in stores as Toys “R” Us (which boasts an indoor Ferris wheel), take pictures with wax celebrities(all over the world) at Madame, watch the ball drop on New Year’s Eve or grab a pre- or post-theater meal along Restaurant Row where many eateries offer deals.
Central park- a span of 843 acres in the heart of Manhattan is one of the world’s greeted urban oases, encompassing a diverse landscape of rolling fields, walking trails and tranquil bodies if water all creation of human art. NYC museums- NYC is famous for its world class institutions and museum mile is a good place to start. The stretch of fifth avenue include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Niue Gallery, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the National Academy Museum & School, Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum (temporarily closed for renovation through 2013), The Jewish Museum, the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio.
Statue of liberty and Ellis island- the statue of liberty is a gleaming beacon for generations of immigrants seeking a better life in America. Though it is visible from the land a short ferry ride will bring you up and personal. Near the statue is the Ellis Island immigration museum.
Yankee stadium- the stadium built at 1923 till 2008 was better known as ‘the house that Ruth built”
Flushing meadows-corona park- best known as the location of the US Open, Flushing Meadows–Corona Park—which, at 1,255 acres, is the City’s third-largest park—boasts a range of worthy attractions. The Unisphere, a 140-foot-tall stainless-steel globe built for the 1964/1965 World’s Fair, and the observatory towers, site of the final alien fight scene in Men in Black, live on as reminders of the event.
Bronx zoo- a 265 lush of wildlife sanctuary.
Brooklyn bridge- a passage between Manhattan and Brooklyn is the world’s longest suspension bridge.
Downtown Manhattan- The area is packed with cultural institutions, including Federal Hall National Memorial, Fraunces Tavern Museum, and the National Museum of the American Indian, The Skyscraper Museum, The New York City Police Museum and the Museum
September 11 memorial- a memorial for the tragic 9/11.
